Job summary

Zipline is seeking an embedded firmware engineer to build the lowest level, safety-critical software for our aircraft. You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, embedded Linux, and systems engineers to ensure seamless transition from manufacturing lines to the world’s largest drone delivery network.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills with C++, Rust and Python.
• Experience with real-world deployed embedded systems and safety-critical software.
• Ability to debug across hardware and software boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Design and build software for flight and safety processes on microcontrollers and embedded Linux edge devices.
• Improve reliability of the flight software with hardware and systems engineers on fault management and hardware-in-the-loop tests.
• Analyze runtime characteristics of avionics software to ensure performance and maintainability.
• Develop metrics, monitoring and troubleshooting for field deployment at scale.
• Create data collection and testing tools for new sensors and microcontroller platforms.
