Job summary

Overland AI in Seattle, WA is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to own the integration between hardware and software on autonomous ground vehicles. This role is hands-on on the production floor, bridging firmware, electrical systems, and autonomy software to deliver mission‑critical solutions.

You will manage the full lifecycle of embedded systems from requirements and architecture to development, testing, and support, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ship

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE/CE/CS or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of firmware or embedded software development.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture, design, and development of embedded firmware for vehicle subsystems.
• Develop firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers and embedded compute platforms.
• Own the hardware–software integration process: bring up new boards, sensors, and peripherals with the autonomy stack.
• Debug across electrical, firmware, and software boundaries on vehicles.
• Write and execute test plans for validation, performance, and production acceptance.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering to select MCUs and peripherals and validate hardware designs.
• Define interfaces and protocols between vehicle subsystems (CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART).
• Develop diagnostics and health monitoring to support field reliability.
