Job summary

Forterra in Clarksburg, MD is seeking an embedded software/firmware engineer to sustain and develop next-generation autonomous vehicle hardware. You will write firmware for microcontrollers and microprocessors, bring up new hardware platforms, and collaborate across hardware, systems, and software teams to ensure safety and reliability.

The role requires 3+ years in embedded C/C++, Linux/RTOS, board bring-up, and hands-on debugging with oscilloscopes and JTAG.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, CS, or related field.
• 3+ years of embedded software development (Linux) experience.
• Experience with hardware test tools like oscilloscopes, analyzers, and meters.
• Experience with ARM Cortex processors and RTOS environments.
• Hands-on board bring-up and low-level debugging.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware for different stages of the product lifecycle, from prototype to production.
• Bring-up boards and test signals, buses, and processors to prove wiring.
• Develop and deploy drivers, bootloaders, and system software for hardware.
• Collaborate with hardware/sys teams and perform debugging and validation.
• Create test plans and support manufacturing tests and diagnostics.
