Job summary

Sartorius Royston is seeking a Firmware Engineer on a 12-month fixed-term contract to design, implement and test embedded software/firmware for machine control solutions. You will join a small product development team in Royston, with hybrid working options and a focus on high-quality software delivery.

The role requires strong experience in embedded C/C++, RTOS and STM32H7 peripherals, plus experience with Ethernet/RS232/RS485 interfaces and Agile/DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with Embedded Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Embedded software design and implementation for embedded control and automation purposes.
• Experience with STM32H7 processors or similar, including peripheral drivers.
• Experience with bespoke communication protocols over Ethernet and RS232/RS485.
• Experience working in an Agile team using DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and test communication interfaces with the high level software development team.
• Creation, migration, extension and integration of firmware drivers for microprocessor applications.
• Developing and executing test plans including unit, module and integration tests.
• Contribute to and organise design reviews with peers and other groups from across the business.
• Develop and maintain documentation to support integration and maintenance activities.
