Job summary

HP, Inc. is hiring for a firmware engineer focused on analysis, design, programming, debugging, and validation of software for firmware (IC embedded code) applications. You will develop full software stacks for ISPs, create firmware modules for hardware interfaces, and lead debugging across hardware/firmware domains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in CS/EE/IS or related field.
  • 0-2 years of firmware-related experience preferred.
  • Strong coding and debugging skills for embedded systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develops full software stack for ISPs including firmware for peripheral hardware, data flow frameworks, and more; enables co-work of dev and algorithm engineers on the same code base.
  • Designs and implements firmware modules to support various hardware interfaces.
  • Performs system-level debugging to resolve hardware/firmware issues.
  • Leads architecture, implementation, and maintenance of complex firmware designs.
  • Codes updates for firmware portions including DSP, EFI drivers, EFI applications and BIOS/UEFI.
  • Executes test plans and logs/ debugs issues.
  • Collaborates with internal and outsourced partners on firmware design and development.
  • Participates with project teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions for low to moderately complex products.
  • Applies foundational principles and provides regular updates on accomplishments and impediments.

The role performs programming activities involving analog and digital hardware and software operating systems. The role writes and optimizes code for microcontrollers and other embedded systems, managing system resources and hardware interfaces. The role conducts thorough testing and validation of firmware to ensure reliability, stability, and compatibility.

  • Applies foundational principles and contributes proactively to projects through research and data analysis support, providing regular updates on accomplishments and impediments.
  • Supports priority projects with direction, maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders and sharing information via standardized reports.
Education & Experience Recommended
  • Four-year Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 0-2 years of work experience, preferably in firmware development, or a related field.
