Job summary

Brightsmith is partnering with an advanced fuel cell technology company to build a manufacturable, cost-efficient, scalable energy product based in Pittsburgh. This Embedded Engineer role focuses on system stability, fault handling, and readiness for scale in deployed hardware.

You will design and maintain embedded firmware, own state machines, improve reliability, and lead next-gen control architecture while building automated testing and validation infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in embedded firmware and control systems.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with state machine design and control logic.
• Familiarity with CAN networks (SAE J1939) and Vector tools.
• Linux-based development environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain embedded firmware and control systems
• Own system behavior (state machines, control logic, configuration)
• Improve reliability by identifying failure modes and edge cases
• Support field and production issues
• Lead next-gen control architecture (fault handling, scalability)
