Job summary

Ascential Medical & Life Sciences in San Diego seeks an Electrical Engineer to design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic systems and PCBA hardware for medical devices. This onsite, contract-to-hire role offers a salary range of $110,000 to $140,000.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Electrical Engineering with 2–5+ years of experience (or MS with 0–2+ years). Proficiency in analog/digital design, PCB layout, and embedded C/C++ is required, with regulatory knowledge a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 2–5+ years of relevant experience.
• Master’s degree with 0–2+ years of experience.
• Experience with analog and digital circuit design; PCB layout; system debugging.
• Familiarity with SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, USB, Ethernet, and wireless protocols.
• Experience with Altium Designer is a plus.
• Embedded systems development in C/C++ on microcontrollers and RTOS.
• Git, debugging tools, automated testing, and version control.
• Experience with medical device regulatory standards ISO13485, IEC60601 is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, modifies electronic systems, PCBA’s, and related hardware.
• Analyzes equipment to establish operating data and performs experimental tests.
• Selects components based on analysis and reliability; assesses vendor capabilities.
• Interacts with clients to present technical designs and results.
• Ensures designs comply with regulatory requirements and standards.
