Job summary

TEKsystems is hiring an Embedded DevOps Engineer to design and build scalable CI/CD pipelines for embedded Linux environments. You will own Yocto-based build, release, and deployment workflows and implement automated firmware delivery with OTA updates.

You will integrate HIL/HITL testing into release pipelines and create automated test frameworks to improve reliability. You will collaborate with embedded, cloud, and test engineering teams to streamline development workflows and empower a ~25

Embedded DevOps Engineer (Yocto / CI/CD / OTA)

Help a high-growth startup scale embedded devices from prototype to production.

This is an opportunity to build the release engineering foundation behind intelligent edge devices deployed in the real world. You'll own how firmware moves from code commit to production deployment, creating the systems that enable reliable releases across large fleets of connected devices.

Rather than maintaining existing processes, you'll design and implement them from the ground up. If you enjoy solving infrastructure challenges, improving developer productivity, and building systems that directly impact product quality, this role offers significant ownership and visibility.

What You'll Do

• Design and build scalable CI/CD pipelines for embedded Linux environments
• Own Yocto-based build, release, and deployment workflows
• Implement automated firmware delivery and OTA (Over-the-Air) update systems
• Integrate Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL/HITL) testing into release pipelines
• Create automated test and validation frameworks
• Improve build reproducibility, reliability, and deployment confidence
• Partner with embedded, cloud, and test engineering teams to streamline development workflows
• Enable a team of approximately 25 engineers to move faster through automation and tooling

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

• Strong CI/CD pipeline experience (GitHub Actions preferred, Jenkins acceptable)
• Experience supporting embedded systems development environments
• Strong Python development skills
• Experience building automated testing and release systems
• Hands-on DevOps or Release Engineering experience
• Experience working with Linux-based embedded platforms

Preferred Experience

• Yocto build system expertise
• Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL/HITL) testing integration
• OTA update systems
• Golang experience
• Familiarity with C++ or Rust development environments
• AWS experience
• Experience supporting connected devices, IoT products, wearables, or edge computing platforms

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Palo Alto, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $85.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
