Actalent is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Middleburg Heights, OH for a contract-to-hire role. You will design, develop, and test embedded software in C/C++, interfacing with hardware and sensors, and collaborate with hardware engineers throughout the lifecycle.

The on-site team is small (6–7 engineers). The position offers a strong benefits package and a focus on real-world hardware/software integration, with travel limited and fully covered when needed.

Embedded Software Engineer

Join a collaborative engineering team developing software that interfaces directly with hardware systems and remote devices. This role focuses primarily on embedded software development using C/C++, with opportunities to work alongside electrical and systems engineers to design, test, and support real-world products. You'll contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through integration, testing, and deployment.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and test embedded software applications in C/C++
• Develop software that interfaces directly with hardware, sensors, and electronic systems

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in:

Preferred Qualifications

• Embedded Linux experience
• Experience with microcontrollers, processors, or device communication
• Understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, and network protocols
• Multithreaded programming experience
• Exposure to C#, .NET, or GUI application development
• Experience integrating software with sensors, instrumentation, or electromechanical systems

Work Environment

This position is 100% onsite and involves a mix of office and laboratory environments. The software team is relatively small, consisting of approximately 6-7 Software Engineers. The company offers a great culture with strong support for work-life balance, including a 9/80 schedule providing every other Friday off. While travel is preferred, it is not required, and would be limited to a few weeks per year at most, with trips typically lasting only a few days at a time. All travel expenses are fully covered.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleburg Heights, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $43.27/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
