Job summary

IPolarity seeks an experienced Embedded C Developer to design, implement, and debug software for Linux-based residential gateway platforms on ARM/MIPS SoCs. You will work on OpenWrt/OpenSync, OVSDB, TLS/mTLS security, and LTE/5G modem integration, with hands-on debugging of kernel-level issues and networking tasks in an onsite Englewood, Colorado environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of embedded C development on Linux.
  • OpenWrt build system, package management, UCI configuration, and JFFS2/SquashFS.
  • OpenSync, OVSDB, protobuf, and MQTT telemetry.
  • Linux internals and embedded Linux debugging.
  • LTE/5G cellular modem integration using AT commands, QMI/MBIM, and rmnet/wwan.
  • Strong Linux networking knowledge including routing, metrics, netfilter, bridges, IPv4/IPv6, DHCPv4/DHCPv6, SLAAC, and prefix delegation.
  • TLS/mTLS, X.509 certificates, certificate validation, and secure provisioning.
  • GRE, IPsec, VPN overlays, and secure encapsulation.
  • Event-loop frameworks such as libev, libuv, or similar.
  • GDB, strace, tcpdump, kernel logs, serial console, and related debugging tools.
  • Git, GitLab CI/CD, and cross-compilation toolchains.
  • WiFi standards and wireless driver configuration.
  • C, Shell scripting, and Python for test automation.
  • OpenWrt/Linux 5.x/6.x and ARM-based embedded platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and debug embedded C software for Linux-based residential gateway platforms using ARM/MIPS SoCs.
  • Develop and maintain OpenSync managers and event-driven daemons interacting with OVSDB.
  • Implement LTE/5G cellular failover and fallback logic, modem management, route arbitration, and WAN health checks.
  • Develop LED state-machine logic for multi-WAN connectivity scenarios.
  • Integrate cellular modems using AT commands, QMI/MBIM, USB, and PCIe/MHI.
  • Work with WiFi drivers for 2.4/5/6 GHz configurations.
  • Debug kernel-level issues including PCIe enumeration, USB management, driver crashes, and kernel panics.
  • Implement secure communication channels using TLS/mTLS, X.509 certificates, GRE, and IPsec.
  • Analyze field issues using device logs, crash dumps, and remote diagnostics.
  • Develop OpenWrt init scripts, UCI configuration handlers, and persistent storage management.
  • Write unit tests and participate in GitLab merge request/code review processes.

Title: Embedded C Developer
Location: Englewood, CO (Onsite)
Conditions:

5+ years of embedded C development on Linux-based platforms.

Onsite in Englewood, CO.

Strong hands-on experience with OpenWrt/OpenSync is required.

Experience with Linux networking and LTE/5G cellular integration is required.

Experience with cloud-managed CPE/residential gateway platforms preferred.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and debug embedded C software for Linux-based residential gateway platforms using ARM/MIPS SoCs.

Develop and maintain OpenSync managers and event-driven daemons interacting with OVSDB.

Implement LTE/5G cellular failover and fallback logic, modem management, route arbitration, and WAN health checks.
