Job summary

Viasat is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer within Secure Network Systems (SNS) - Viasat Government to join a small, fast-paced team. You will develop software for encrypted communications systems, interface with system/test/hardware engineers, and contribute to in-line network encryptors and cryptographic devices.

Qualifications

• At least 2-3 years of embedded software design and implementation in C/C++.
• Experience with Linux OS in embedded environments.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development/modifications.
• Rust experience is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or related field.
• US citizenship and an active SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement embedded software in C/C++ and Rust.
• Work with Linux OS in embedded environments.
• Contribute to TCP/IP and network configuration tasks.
• Develop and maintain object-oriented software.
• Participate in Agile Scrum development.
• Plan, track, and report progress.
• Contribute to CI/CD software development.
• Communicate effectively in written and oral form.
• Develop Linux kernel drivers and bare-metal drivers as needed.
• Work with NIOS, ARM, or RISC-V processors and security-focused networking protocols.
• Develop Python-based tools and standalone embedded applications.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
