Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Reston, VA is seeking a Software System Controls Engineer I or II to join agile teams designing, integrating, and testing embedded control systems for aero engines. The role spans requirements, architecture, and verification to ensure certification evidence is met.

Candidates should have a STEM degree with 1+ years (I) or 2+ years (II), experience with SysML/Simulink, and programming in Python, C, C++, or Groovy.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering (STEM) with 1+ years experience OR Master’s with experience OR PhD in Engineering (STEM). US citizenship required.
• Familiar with Model-based system and software design using SysML, Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Develop safety-critical gas turbine engine control systems with embedded software to satisfy ARP4754, DO-254, DO-178C and similar standards.
• Integrate hardware and software components within defined architecture to support product line methodology.
• Test the embedded control system at component, control system, engine, and aircraft levels.
• Develop and modify processes to enable compliance objectives and optimal development pace.
• Set up and modify CI/CD frameworks to facilitate software development by the team.
• Liaise with certification airworthiness authorities to explain approaches and close out audit findings.
