Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Reston, VA, is seeking Software System Controls Engineer I & II to join the NPI team designing next‑generation aero engine control systems for MQ‑25, B‑52, and MV‑75 aircraft. The role collaborates with Embedded Systems, Software, and Electronics Designers in agile scrum teams.

You will transform system requirements into robust software, meeting certification evidences while supporting CI/CD and verification activities in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Experience engineering safety-critical control systems with embedded software.
• Familiar with model-based system and software design using SysML, Simulink.
• Experience with testing and verification of embedded control systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop safety-critical gas turbine engine control systems with embedded software to satisfy ARP4754, DO-254, DO-178C and similar standards.
• Integrate hardware and software components within defined architecture to support product line methodology.
• Test the control system at component, control-system, engine, and aircraft levels.
• Define and modify processes to improve compliance and development pace.
• Set up CI/CD frameworks to enable streamlined software development.
• Liaise with certification airworthiness authorities to demonstrate compliance and close audit findings.
