Job summary

Global Connect Technologies in Portland, OR is seeking an experienced Embedded BSP Software Engineer to develop, integrate, debug, and optimize BSP, kernel, and QNX software for embedded platforms.

The role emphasizes hands-on board bring-up, device drivers, performance tuning, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware, firmware, and systems teams. Strong C/C++ and Python skills are required, with experience in UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, USB, boot processes, and virtualization.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Linux kernel and device driver development.
• Hands-on board bring-up and hardware/software integration.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
• Experience in system performance and memory optimization.
• Familiarity with UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, and USB interfaces.
• Knowledge of bootloaders, boot processes, and system initialization.
• Experience with embedded OS concepts, security, and software updates.
• Understanding of virtualization and hypervisors.

Responsibilities

• Develop, debug, test, and maintain Linux kernel and device drivers.
• Perform board bring-up and hardware/software integration.
• Develop and optimize embedded software for performance and stability.
• Write software in C/C++ and Python; utilize scripting as needed.
• Work with UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, and USB protocols.
• Support boot processes, OS development, and system updates.
• Work with QNX Hypervisor and virtualization technologies.
• Develop and maintain test automation for BSP validation.
• Troubleshoot complex system-level issues across hardware, firmware, kernel, and apps.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, systems, and software teams; document results.
