Job summary

Quest Defense Systems and Solutions seeks embedded software engineers to build foundational components for next‑gen avionics. You’ll design reusable libraries, implement an I/O framework, and support certifiable software architectures for mission‑critical programs.

This role prefers onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA, with remote options for qualified candidates. You’ll collaborate with system architects to ensure ARINC‑653 partitioning integrity and contribute to certification activities.

Qualifications

• Embedded software experience in avionics or similar safety‑critical domains.
• Strong C++ and object‑oriented design for embedded systems.
• Knowledge of ARINC interfaces, I/O frameworks, and data management.
• Experience certifying software to DO‑178 DAL A or similar.
• Ability to generate and review HLR/LLR with traceability.
• Fast learner with initiative and drive.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and consolidate core functions into reusable libraries and frameworks.
• Refactor existing code for shared use across multiple avionics applications.
• Design and implement an I/O framework supporting multiple protocols.
• Define data dictionaries and I/O specifications.
• Collaborate with system architects to ensure ARINC‑653 partitioning integrity.
• Support certification activities through HLR/LLR documentation and DAL compliance.
• Contribute to long‑term scalable software infrastructure strategy.
