Blue Origin is seeking an Embedded Automation Architect to own the automation roadmap for a dedicated business unit and drive AI-enabled automation from concept to production. You will collaborate with design and engineering teams to minimize part count, justify investments, and deliver cost-efficient automation across facilities.

Qualificações

• 8+ years in automation, controls, or robotics engineering with hands-on design and integration.
• Experience owning automation strategy across a product line or facility, not just individual machines.
• Deep knowledge of PLC/controls platforms and industrial robots (KUKA, FANUC, ABB).
• Understanding IT/OT interconnectivity across PLM/MBD, MES, ERP and shop-floor controls.
• Fluency with AI-enabled automation approaches and judgment on where AI belongs.
• Strong make-versus-buy and build-versus-integrator judgment with financial sense.
• Experience applying design-for-manufacturing / automation upstream of a build.
• Solid manufacturing process knowledge and safety standards in industrial automation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-influence skills.
• Willingness to embed on-site and travel between Blue facilities.
• U.S. citizen/national or permanent resident or eligible.

Responsabilidades

• Own and maintain the automation roadmap for the assigned business unit.
• Prioritize automation investments by savings potential vs capital and schedule.
• Lead make-versus-buy decisions for automation systems.
• Enforce design-for-automation upstream with design/engineering teams.
• Architect AI-enabled automation with model-driven programming and ML-based inspection.
• Use AI tools for coding/documentation and build reusable automation tools.
• Champion the digital thread from MES/work-order gateway to machine and data flow.
• Translate roadmap items into projects and hand to central build teams.
• Ensure maintenance basis, spares, and telemetry hooks are defined.
• Defend the financial case for the roadmap to leadership and Finance.
• Interface as the trusted automation authority for automation feasibility and cost.
