Job summary

Schneider Electric is seeking an Embedded AI Firmware Engineer Co-Op in Andover, MA for a 6-8 month program starting January 2027. This paid co-op offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced design environment, working on next-generation technologies and diverse embedded systems.

You will expand firmware, port ML frameworks, participate in design reviews, and collaborate in an agile team while developing real products under guidance from experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in CS/CE (upperclassman preferred).
• Familiarity with AI concepts and frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite, Tiny ML, or ONNX.
• Ability to examine large data sets and develop ML models.
• Understanding of computer architectures and software design including UML 2.0.
• Experience with Embedded Systems using C/C++.
• Familiarity with Real-Time Operating Systems like FreeRTOS.
• Familiarity with ARM, STM32 microprocessors and peripherals (ADC, I2C, SPI, CAN).
• Proficiency in Python and R.
• Experience with laboratory equipment like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Awareness of Agile development with CI/CD pipelines.

Job description

Schneider Electric is looking for an Embededed AIFirmware Engineer Co-Op to join our team in January 2027 in Andover, MA. This position will last 6-8 months. We are looking for a positive, self-motivated, passionate individual with a strong desire to work in an exciting, fast-paced design environment to help us develop next generation technologies. This individual will be able to grow with Fortune 500 experience, and work in the following areas:

What will you do?

• Expand and modify existing firmware to meet design requirements
• Port and test Machine learning frameworks into an embedded C platform
• Perform development (coding and/or testing) of a part of an embedded software solution whose specification and architecture are defined.
• Participate in firmware design reviews with peers to gain knowledge on the best practices.
• Work with the formal verification team to define, document, analyze, perform and interpret developmental tests for new and/or modified products.
• Firmware development using Integrated Development Environment (IDEs).
• Facilitate the generation of prototypes for testing.
• Contribute to verification and validation test plans including test method and acceptance criteria.
• Interpretation of test results and other data. Ability to synthesize data into technical communication for effective written and oral presentation.
• Work and contribute as part of an agile development team.

What would make you successful?

• Pursuing a Bachelors Degree (upperclassman preferred) or a Masters Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• Familiarity with AI concepts. Understanding of AI frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite, Tiny ML, or ONNX.
• Capability to examine large data sets and develop machine learning models
• Understanding of computer architectures and Software design including UML 2.0
• Experience in designing Embedded Systems with languages like C/C++.
• Understanding of Real-Time Operating System like FreeRTOS
• Familiarity with ARM, STM32 microprocessors including programming microprocessor peripherals such as ADC, I2C, SPI, and CAN
• Proficiency in Python programming and R language
• Proficiency in laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
• Understanding or interest with Agile development environment including CI/CD pipelines

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD $23.00-$35.50 per hour. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
