Job summary

Optigy Group is seeking an Emergency Medicine physician for a locum tenens assignment in Texas starting September 2026. The role covers 12-hour shifts with day or night rotations, and provides 24-hour physician coverage in a high-volume ED (~31,000 visits annually).

Travel and lodging are included for the assignment. Candidates must be board-certified in Emergency Medicine or related specialties, hold an active Texas license and DEA, and meet credentialing timelines (about 90 days).

Qualifications

• MD or DO with residency in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or General Surgery.
• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine or related specialties.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in Emergency Medicine or related field.
• Active Texas medical license required before presentation.
• Active Texas DEA registration with a Texas address.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS if board certified in another specialty.
• Two years of case logs and CME/CEU documentation for credentialing.
• Immunization documentation for TB, COVID, flu, MMR, Varicella, Hep B.

Responsibilities

• Provide ED care for a high-volume center (IV trauma).
• Maintain EMR documentation in Medhost.
• Coordinate credentialing within ~90 days and pursue expedited privileges if possible.
• Support 24-hour physician coverage and handoffs across shifts.
• Ensure compliance with malpractice coverage requirements.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completed residency training in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or General Surgery.
• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or General Surgery.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in Emergency Medicine or a related specialty.
• Active, unrestricted Texas medical license required before presentation.
• Active Texas DEA registration with a Texas address and Schedules II, IIN, III, IIIN, IV, and V.
• Required Certifications
• Emergency Medicine Board Certified physicians do not require additional certifications.
• Physicians board certified in another accepted specialty must maintain current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications.

Credentialing Requirements

• Two years of case logs required.
• Two years of CME/CEU documentation required.
• Immunization documentation required for TB screening within the past 12 months, COVID, seasonal influenza within the past 12 months, MMR, Varicella, and Hepatitis B.
• Malpractice Coverage
• Professional liability coverage of $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate required.

Additional Details

Estimated credentialing timeframe is approximately 90 days. Expedited privileges may be available for candidates with clean credentialing files.
