Job summary

DREAM in New York invites an experienced ELL Teacher to design and lead English language development for students needing language support. You will collaborate with classroom staff to integrate ELL standards into daily instruction, plan lessons, and monitor student progress using schoolwide assessment data.

The ideal candidate has experience with ELL pedagogy, is comfortable communicating with families, and is willing to be flexible across teaching assignments within the school setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
• Special Education and/or ESOL certification, preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
• At least two years of teaching experience with record of improving student achievement, preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate ELL standards into the daily curriculum.
• Employ a variety of ELL instructional techniques for whole group, small group, and individual learning.
• Implement a Common Core-aligned ELL curriculum based on language acquisition levels and backward lesson planning.
• Participate in meetings, planning, and professional development including annual summer institute.
• Track and monitor student progress using ELL data and schoolwide assessments.
• Assist in developing ELL plans for all students and work with teachers to implement them.
• Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and complete quarterly progress reports for families.
• Assist in administering language proficiency and achievement tests for placement and monitoring.
• Maintain communication with parents and engage families in learning; act as school ambassador.
