Provide English Language Learning instruction for adult ELL students in CCD's College and Career English Language Learning (ELL) program.
CCD's ELL program offers multiple levels of instruction, from high beginner to advanced. This includes courses to help students matriculate to career track programs in post-secondary education. Instructors will demonstrate passion and expertise in assisting adult learners from diverse backgrounds with language acquisition to achieve education and career goals.
Bachelor's Degree in English or related Liberal Arts field, or an Associates Degree plus at least 3 years of experience teaching English as a second language for adults in an institution of higher learning or an approved educational program
Teaching experience with adults (over 17) in English as a Second Language, English as a Foreign Language; subject-matter expert in English grammar, vocabulary, syntax; able to clearly explain the mechanics and nuances of expression in the English language to non-native speakers
Expertise and high comfort level with the latest technologies and Microsoft Office, Google Docs, online instruction, audio and video devices, and data entry
Understanding of adult education in the community environment: the ability to communicate effectively and problem-solve with adult students who are facing personal challenges, barriers to learning, and/or technology issues
Proficient in effective lesson planning to meet student needs; able to develop engaging activities with a wide range of materials to support multiple learning styles
