Job summary

Nestucca Valley School District is seeking an English Language Learners Instructional Assistant to support ELL students and assist licensed staff. The role includes small-group instruction, data collection, and collaboration with a diverse school community.

This nonexempt, 0.375 FTE position aligns with the district's IA Special Education salary schedule and 179 contract days. Applicants should have a relevant degree or the required alternate qualifications and pass a background check.

Qualifications

Associate's degree preferred, including coursework in working with children.
High school diploma or GED plus a passing reading/math assessment if the degree isn't held.
Experience with children and knowledge of child development.
Experience with students whose native language is not English.
Bilingual proficiency.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Effective communication with staff and students using tact and good judgment.
Ability to collect data and perform basic math functions.
Proficient in written and spoken English with clear instruction.
Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Must pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Reinforce instruction with ELL students in small groups or one-on-one.
Follow up on language, spelling, reading, math activities as directed by the Teacher.
Monitor and oversee student tasks and assignments across subjects.
Assist with classroom assignments, homework, and projects.
Prepare instructional materials under licensed teacher direction.
Perform clerical duties using standard office software.
Maintain data as required by the ELL program.
Ensure student safety and monitor behavior in multiple settings.
Document discipline issues and file proper reports.
Communicate with students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Attend required trainings and district reporting.
Complete annual online training and meet attendance expectations.
Meet physical requirements with or without accommodation.
Maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and parents.
Perform other duties as assigned.
