Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking an Elixir Engineer to build and maintain a growing software platform as an embedded member of a small team.

The role requires 2+ years of professional software development, strong Elixir/Erlang skills, and a solid grounding in functional programming and production web apps. You will work across the application, collaborate with product managers, own tasks end-to-end, and contribute to API integrations and data layers using PostgreSQL.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Elixir and/or Erlang.
  • Strong understanding of functional programming principles.
  • Experience building and maintaining production web applications.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
  • Experience designing, consuming, or maintaining APIs and service integrations.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and modern development practices.
  • Ability to independently own and deliver engineering tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to understand user problems and translate into technical decisions.
  • Comfortable working in a small, distributed engineering team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Availability for a full-time engagement.
  • Based in Latin America with strong overlap with the team in Austin, Texas.
  • Ability to travel to the United States if required.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and improve Bright Harbor’s software platform using Elixir.
  • Work across different areas of the application as part of a small engineering team.
  • Collaborate with product managers to translate user problems into technical solutions.
  • Participate in technical and product discussions and contribute to implementation decisions.
  • Take ownership of development work from requirements through delivery.
  • Build and maintain integrations with internal and external services and APIs.
  • Work with PostgreSQL and the application’s data layer.
  • Write reliable, maintainable, well-tested production code.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the application.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the platform and engineering practices as the product grows.
  • Communicate progress, tradeoffs, and blockers clearly with the team.
  • Work effectively in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.

About the role
