Job summary

The University of Texas at El Paso is seeking a full-time security guard to provide essential protection for the Controlled Space Enterprise Department. The role focuses on monitoring alarms, securing facilities, and safeguarding classified information through vigilant access control and incident response.

The position requires US citizenship, the ability to obtain SECRET clearance (TOP SECRET may be required), and a willingness to work varied shifts including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• United States citizenship or naturalized status; ability to obtain SECRET clearance.
• Position may require TOP SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard classified and controlled unclassified information.
• Immediately respond to alarms.
• Perform access control to ensure only authorized persons and items enter/exit the premises (identify employees, visitors, badges).
• Conduct random inspections and security checks; report hazards.
• Observe and report conditions that increase risk or danger.
• Ensure compliance with emergency response procedures.
• Assist in facility protection as part of the team.
• Interact with employees, visitors, and guests to provide courteous assistance.
• Complete log entries and official notifications (telephone/email).
• Answer incoming telephone calls; operate security systems (CCTV, PA, fax).
• Handle after-hours mail deliveries; complete mandatory training.
