An elite matrimonial boutique in New York City seeks to hire a midlevel associate coming from a BigLaw or equivalent background for a hybrid role (2 days per week in office). Previous matrimonial experience is not required; the firm is open to attorneys from a range of practice areas who are hard workers interested in entering the matrimonial space. The firm enjoys high morale and low attrition.

Key Responsibilities:

• A mix of litigation and non-litigation matters (prenuptial and other agreements)
• Sophisticated matrimonial work with excellent training for those new to the practice area

What the Firm Seeks:

• Midlevel associates from BigLaw or equivalent backgrounds
• Strong work ethic and genuine interest in entering matrimonial law
• Open to candidates from different practice areas—no matrimonial experience required
• For candidates of interest, the first step in the process is a 1-hour practical assessment that requires no prior experience (analogous to the MPT on the bar exam)

What the Firm Offers:

• Base salary of about $160,000
• Guaranteed minimum bonuses tied to billable hours: $100,000 at 1,400 hours, and up from there- with generous discretionary bonuses even for those who fall short of these thresholds
• 20% origination commissions
• Full benefits for the employee and spouse/family, with 100% of healthcare premiums paid by the firm
• 3 retirement plan contributions-401(k), profit sharing, and cash balance plan (typically 10,000 to 15,000 per year, varying based on age and compensation)
• Overall minimum of 1,450 hours, inclusive of billable and billable-equivalent work (business development, writing articles, presentations, internal committees, etc.)
• Hybrid schedule with 2 days expected in the office per week
• High morale and very low attrition
