Job summary

Carleton Equipment in Michigan is seeking a High-Level Shop Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of heavy construction equipment. This full-time role offers hands-on, fast-paced work and paid training to help you transition into heavy equipment service.

Preferred candidates have at least 2 years of heavy equipment or field service repair experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in heavy equipment or field service repair.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with understanding of engines, powertrain, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Experience in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Welding and fabrication proficiency.
• Must possess a complete set of professional tools and be able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete inspections of equipment and machinery.
• Remove, install, and replace parts and components.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment malfunctions.
• Carry out routine and scheduled maintenance.
• Test equipment functionality post-repair and ensure safety.
