Job summary

Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) roles come with competitive federal compensation and robust recruitment incentives. Selected new hires may receive up to $15,000 per year for a 3- or 4-year service contract in designated locations, with base GS-9 pay ranging from $63,431 to $127,464 annually plus locality pay. Overtime can add up to $45,000.

Training and federal benefits are included. Duty locations span numerous sites nationwide, with incentives attached to several states.

Qualifications

• Experience: 1 year of specialized experience equal to at least the next lower grade level that includes detaining violators, enforcing import/export laws, using intelligence techniques, and conducting interviews.
• Education Substitution: Master’s degree or higher, or 2+ years of grad education, or LL.B./J.D.
• Combination: A combination of experience and education as evaluated by the resume/transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Detaining suspected violators and arresting violators using proper methods.
• Enforcing laws relating to importing/exporting and international shipping.
• Using intelligence techniques to identify threats and perform risk assessments.
• Conducting interviews in a law enforcement capacity to gain information.
