Job summary

The Division of Public Assistance (DPA) in Alaska is seeking an Eligibility Technician 2 to join statewide teams and support applicants for public assistance programs. Qualifications

What you will be doing

In this role, you will be part of the statewide Public Assistance Eligibility Team. Together, we will help Alaskan families, the elderly, and other individuals in need reach higher levels of independence and self-sufficiency by connecting them with the public assistance programs our agency offers. You will also have the opportunity to interact extensively with the public, being empathetic while explaining the need for information or determining benefits.

This position joins a statewide eligibility workflow team in local Public Assistance offices across the state. The work location is at 11312 Kenai Spur Highway, Suite 200, Kenai, AK 99611.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska;

OR

One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.

Substitution

Post-secondary education in such fields as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).
