Job summary

SC Department of Social Services seeks an Eligibility Specialist I to support the Economic Services division. You will conduct interviews, process applications for SNAP, TANF, ESAP and SCCAP, and maintain confidential case records.

You must have a high school diploma (Bachelor’s may substitute) and a valid SC driver’s license; travel within the state is required. Join a mission-driven team in South Carolina.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with relevant program experience.
• Bachelor’s degree may substitute for required experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the state.
• Familiar with SNAP, TANF, ESAP and SCCAP programs.
• Ability to conduct quality interviews (minimum per day) and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Provide services per federal/state laws for SNAP, TANF, ESAP and SCCAP.
• Conduct at least 15 quality interviews per day via phone or in person.
• Process applications and recertifications; determine eligibility and authorize benefits.
• Maintain confidential case records and document activities in SCOSA.
• Identify overpayments and prepare referrals and hearings as needed.
• Participate in trainings and meetings; protect PII and agency security.
