Job summary

Texas Department of State Health Services in Austin seeks a Program Specialist I to perform routine consultative services and technical work for the Texas HIV Medication Program (THMP). You will evaluate eligibility, train staff and external partners, and help coordinate daily operations and special projects.

Responsibilities include data collection, report development, and ensuring adherence to program policies.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in social work, public health, or health care administration is preferred.
  • One year of directly related experience may substitute for two years of college.
  • Experience in eligibility determination, information verification, maintaining digital records, communicating with clients and external stakeholders, and interpreting guidelines.
  • Experience using manual and/or automated systems to determine eligibility.
  • Experience in verbal and written communication.
  • Experience working with PHI.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with eligibility determinations for new, recertification, and self-attestation applications for medication assistance through THMP.
  • Provide initial determinations for eligibility denials with secondary review by Regional Coordinator.
  • Help external eligibility workers with SPAP/TIAP/TIAP-PLUS processing and THMP outreach.
  • Assist in developing eligibility guidelines and screening processes for compliance and accuracy.
  • Input all eligibility information into THMP database and take notes for eligibility determinations.
  • Compile and evaluate statistical data to support THMP projections and reports.
  • Serve as liaison with local ADAP Enrollment Workers to facilitate enrollment.
