Job summary

The Orange County Department of Social Services seeks a Human Services Technician to help determine eligibility for public assistance programs. You will use NC FAST and other automated systems, interview applicants, and update case records. You may assist at the front desk and guide clients through program options.

Under supervision, you will work within established rules and procedures, with potential for growth based on experience. Bilingual skills are preferred to assist a diverse client base.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in human services or social work or related field.
• High School diploma or GED plus two years’ related experience in human services.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience as described above.

Responsibilities

• Determine eligibility for public assistance benefits through intake and processing systems.
• Interview applicants and gather information to assess program eligibility.
• Key applications and update case details in the system.
• Assist clients at the front desk and provide needed assistance.
