Job summary

Mennel Milling Company in Fostoria, OH is seeking an Elevator Operator (Flour Mill) to maintain wheat quality through receiving, storage, blending and milling processes, with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance. You will support food safety, quality and operational excellence across the grain handling lifecycle. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and adaptability to varying shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Operate grain handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Sampling and testing wheat and grain products to determine quality, grading, acceptability, and segregation requirements.
• Work closely with milling and quality teams to manage wheat inventory and optimize food safety and milling quality.
• Safely work around rail cars, grain trucks, semi-trailers, and other grain hauling vehicles.
• Maintain elevator facilities, grain bins, loading stations, and outdoor grounds in an audit-ready condition.
• Perform preventative and emergency maintenance activities as needed.
• Follow all GMP, OSHA, HACCP, FSMA, sanitation, and company safety requirements.
• Maintain required grain handler and pesticide applicator licenses (where applicable).
• Assist with additional duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

As an Elevator Operator (Flour Mill), you’ll play a key role in maintaining the integrity and quality of wheat throughout the receiving, storage, blending, and milling process. You will help support Mennel’s commitment to food safety, product quality, and operational excellence.

Your responsibilities will include:

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• State of Ohio Grain Handler’s License or ability to maintain licensure.
• Ability to pass a Qualitative Respirator Fit Test and safely perform work while wearing a respirator.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and mechanical equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform duties in confined spaces.
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and manufacturing environments.
