Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Michigan Elevator Repair Journeyperson License.
  • Completion of a recognized elevator apprenticeship program.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license.
  • Three years of elevator maintenance/repair in Michigan within the last five years.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical work and lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and occupational hazards in elevator work.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding and similar devices.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect elevator control boards, switches and circuitry to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintain and repair printed circuit boards, electronic relays and controls.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and replace defective components and wires.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance per EMU work orders.
  • Inspect and repair indicator panels, safety features and hydraulic pumps.
  • Conduct safety tests as required by Michigan regulations and assist inspections.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform repairs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
  • Maintain clean work areas and incident logs.
  • Report damages or hazards to supervisor and maintain records.
