Elevator Mechanicsrepair and maintain hydraulic and traction elevators and related equipment (relays, controls, wiring, contacts, cables, and doors) in Stations & Facilities (within New York State) to ensure proper working order and passenger safety and repair and maintain compressors and right of way generators.

The starting rate for this position is$30.91/hour(70% of the full rate). The annual wage progression scale is as follows:
Year 1 & 2= 70%
Year 3= 75%
Year 4= 80%
Year 5 & 6= 85%
Year 7= 90%
Year 8= 100%
The 100% full rate of pay is$44.16/hour.
For those approved for a journeyman rate, the wage progression scale is as follows: Year 1=$35.33>Year 2&3=$37.53>Year 4=$39.74>Year 5=$44.16 of the full rate of pay.
This salary is non-negotiable, based on theInternational Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers(IAM)Bargaining Agreement. Accordingly, please be advised that the terms and conditions of employment for this position are subject to the collective bargaining agreement.
Applicants will establish seniority in the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Union, the union representing Machinists, in accordance with the union's current collective bargaining agreement.
Members of the IAM are subject to an initiation fee and monthly union dues.
Selection Criteria

Employees driving company vehicles will be subject to License Monitoring and must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MTA drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
