Shums Coda Associates, Inc. is seeking a Full-time Conveyance Inspector in Colorado to perform detailed code compliance inspections of vertical transportation equipment for commercial and residential projects.

Qualifications

  • Detailed knowledge of commercial and residential building design and construction methods, including building, fire, electrical, accessibility and conveyance codes and regulations.
  • Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings and installation drawings.
  • Demonstrated initiative and sound judgement in inspections and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed code compliance inspections and oversee testing for vertical transportation equipment.
  • Witness elevator safety component tests and verify compliance with safety codes.
  • Conduct final acceptance inspections for new and modernized elevator systems.
  • Provide detailed inspection reports with deficiencies and recommendations.
  • Explain code deficiencies and communicate with facility staff and contractors.
  • Lead inspection/testing processes to achieve consistent results.
  • Remove unsafe conveyances from service when required and educate owners/operators.
