Job summary

American Services Group (ASG), part of American Elevator Group, is looking for an Elevator Apprentice to join the Houston, TX area team. You will assist the Mechanic on repair jobs, move tools, and help maintain safe, organized job sites.

This entry-level role requires a high school diploma and at least 2 years of relevant experience or training in hydraulics, electrical, engines, or HVAC. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience.
• Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge with hydraulics, electrical, engines or HVAC.
• Elevator experience or technical military training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Mechanic with the repair of elevators.
• Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from work sites.
• Hold, position, and secure parts during installation or repair tasks.
• Clean machine parts, rails, and cables as instructed.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
• Help with troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment at job sites.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Backed by Arcline Investment Management, AEG has a significant footprint in the elevator industry and is rapidly growing. Due to growth, we are looking for an Apprentice to work out of the Houston, Texas Metro area.

As an Elevator Apprentice you will be responsible for assisting the Mechanic on repair jobs, keeping the tools and job site organized, running parts and materials, and maintaining tools, equipment and components to ensure safe work practices.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Mechanic with the repair of elevators.
• Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from work sites.
• Hold, position, and secure parts during installation or repair tasks.
• Clean machine parts, rails, and cables as instructed.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
• Help with troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment at job sites.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience.
• Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous knowledge and experience with either hydraulics, electrical, engines or HVAC is a must.
• Previous elevator experience or technical military training is highly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
• Valid driver's license and must be able to drive a cargo van.

Work Environment & Hazards:

• The Elevator Helper will work in a variety of settings, including commercial buildings, hospitals, airports, and residential complexes.
• The job may involve working at heights or in confined spaces.
• Hazards may include electrical shock, falls, and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Special Physical Demands:

• The Elevator Helper must be able to lift heavy equipment up to fifty pounds (50lbs) or more, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• The job may require standing for prolonged periods of time and working in awkward position.
