Position Purpose

This position serves an Elevate campus and focuses on accelerating language acquisition and academic performance through differentiated, data‑driven instruction in a structured environment. Employs innovative teaching methods and personalized instruction to promote academic progress and foster a love of learning. Contributes to the implementation of innovative teaching strategies within the Elevate instructional model.

Essential Job Functions

• Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; communicates these objectives to the students.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs of the individuals or student groups involved.
• Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district's instructional model, goals, and objectives.
• Assesses the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
• Refers students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior. Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Makes provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education‑related purposes when required.
• Maintains and improves professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees.
• Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues.
• Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
• Contributes to the school community by attending and supporting extracurricular activities and events.

Safety

• Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
• Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
• Corrects unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
• Certification/License: Valid Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for grade level and/or subject area required.
• Experience:
  • Teaching experience preferred;
  • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
• Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings.
