Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for grade level and/or subject area.
  • Teaching experience preferred; experience with diverse student populations preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings.

Position Purpose

This position serves at an Elevate campus and focuses on accelerating language acquisition and academic performance through differentiated, data-driven instruction in a structured environment. Employs innovative teaching methods and personalized instruction to promote academic progress and foster a love of learning. Contributes to the implementation of innovative teaching strategies within the Elevate instructional model.

Essential Job Functions
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; communicates these objectives to the students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the districts instructional model, goals, and objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.Refers students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior. Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Makes provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education-related purposes when required.
  • Maintains and improves professional competence.
  • Participates in district staff development.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues.
  • Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
  • Contributes to the school community by attending and supporting extracurricular activities and events.
  • Participates in parent-teacher conferences and other school events to foster a strong home-school partnership.
Safety
  • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

Physical & Mental Demands, Work Hazards
  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment such as interactive teaching screens.
  • Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; frequent walking.
  • Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasionally up to 35 pounds; may lift and move textbooks, classroom tools, and lab equipment; additional requirements may apply in certain classroom/lab settings.
  • Vision: Performs tasks requiring close vision.
  • Environment: Works inside and occasionally outside; standard classroom/lab school building environment; frequent exposure to noise; frequent talking and listening; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
  • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Certification/License: Valid Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for grade level and/or subject area required.
  • Experience:
    • Teaching experience preferred;
    • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
  • Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings.
