Resident Teacher: ELEVATE/ACE (Accelerating Campus Excellence) - Pool

Reports to: Principal

Pay Grade: $68,000

Duty Days: 212

FLSA Status: Exempt

POSITION PURPOSE

This position serves at an Elevate campus where they will contribute to student success by assisting, supporting, and working alongside experienced educators to develop teaching skills, gain practical classroom experience, and provide other whole-class instructional support. The role includes the reinforcement of knowledge and skills, monitor student progress, and prepare instructional materials. The Resident Teacher will have the opportunity to learn and grow within the Elevate instructional model.

Essential Job Functions
  • Collaborates with teachers to support classroom management and create an engaging learning environment.
  • Assists in planning and implementing lesson plans, instructional activities, and assessments.
  • Provides individual or small group instruction to reinforce learning objectives.
  • Supports students in developing academic and social-emotional skills.
  • Participates in professional development sessions and workshops to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Attends teacher meetings, observes experienced teachers, and engages in reflective practices.
  • Collaborates with mentor teachers to receive feedback, guidance, and support for continuous improvement.
  • Stays informed about current educational trends, instructional strategies, and best practices.
  • Fosters positive and inclusive relationships with students, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Assists in assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records of student performance.
  • Supports student behavior management and reinforces classroom expectations.
  • Collaborates with other staff members to identify and address student needs and challenges.
  • Establishes open and effective communication with parents/guardians, keeping them informed about student progress and achievements.
  • Participates in parent-teacher conferences and other school events to foster a strong home-school partnership.
  • Contributes to the school community by attending and supporting extracurricular activities and events.
  • Serves as a substitute teacher in the event of teacher absence, maintaining instructional continuity for students.
Safety
  • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

Travel Requirements
  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Physical & Mental Demands, Work Hazards
  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment such as interactive teaching screens.
  • Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; frequent walking.
  • Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasionally up to 35 pounds; may lift and move textbooks, classroom tools, and lab equipment; additional requirements may apply in certain classroom/lab settings.
  • Vision: Performs tasks requiring close vision.
  • Environment: Works inside and occasionally outside; standard classroom/lab school building environment; frequent exposure to noise; frequent talking and listening; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
  • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelors degree from accredited college or university required;
    • Major in Education or a field related to subject being taught preferred.
  • Certification/License: None.
  • Experience:
    • Teaching experience preferred;
    • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
  • Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings.
