Required Background Authorization Form

Summary: To plan, organize, and implement an instructional program in an elementary or secondary environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to all students in the class.
  • Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities, and achievements of individual students and groups.
  • Adopting and working toward the implementation of the school improvement plan.
  • Assigning, correcting, and marking work carried out by students.
  • Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, attainment, and behaviour of students.
  • Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports, and references for students or groups.
  • Promoting general progress and well‑being of students or classes entrusted to the teacher.
  • Providing guidance and advice to students on educational and social matters, further education, and future careers; conveying information on additional expert resources.
  • Communicating, consulting, and cooperating with other staff members, including those with special responsibilities, and with parents/guardians to ensure students’ best interests.
  • Advising and cooperating with the Lower and Upper School Directors, CEO, and other teachers in preparing and developing courses of study, teaching materials, programmes, methods, and assessment.
  • Maintaining high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching, including participation in observation, in‑service education, training, and continuous professional development.
  • Maintaining good order and discipline among students and safeguarding their health and safety at all times.
  • Participating in staff, group, or other meetings related to school administration.
  • Contributing to the professional development of new teachers and student teachers as agreed with school directors.
  • Ensuring safe custody and optimal use of teaching equipment and arranging regular maintenance.
  • Registering and monitoring student attendance.
  • Participating in effective school management, organization, order, and discipline.
  • Nurturing a culture where teachers see themselves as facilitators of learning and reflective practitioners.
  • Participating in and contributing to IEP conferences and collaborating with parents, EC staff, and other professionals.
  • Developing and implementing IEPs for students with individual educational needs and participating in IEP meetings.
  • Liaising and collaborating with specialist teachers, resource personnel, and other professionals working with statemented students.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by school leadership.
