Overview

Fayette County Public Schools is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated teachers to join our advancing school system. The successful candidates will join a professional organization dedicated to student success. They will be expected to perform duties customary to an elementary teacher in PK to 5th grade, including preparing lessons toward mastery of state standards, collaborating with faculty, providing small group instruction, differentiating instruction, and offering interventions; working with administrators and coaches to improve performance; monitoring students; and communicating with parents and stakeholders. Developing and administering assessments is also required.

Performance Responsibilities
  1. Demonstrates and differentiates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program addressing individual student requirements.
  2. Commitment to high student achievement & support for all students.
  3. Knowledge of the subject matter being taught.
  4. Ability to exercise various teaching strategies to increase students’ critical thinking skills.
  5. Create a secure classroom climate and respond to inquiries from a variety of sources.
  6. Instruct students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study.
  7. Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
  8. Administer and develop subject specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
  9. Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  10. Monitors students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  11. Prepares a variety of written materials to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
  12. Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
  13. Plan, develop, implement, and monitor with student success as your goal.
  14. Use available technology in your lessons.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.

Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
