High School Math Geometry Teacher

Fayette County Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to join our school system. The successful candidate will join a professional organization dedicated to student success. They will be expected to perform duties customary to a high school teacher in grades 9‑12, including preparing lessons toward mastery of the state standards, collaborating with other faculty, providing small‑group instruction and interventions, working with administrators and coaches to improve performance, monitoring students, and communicating with parents and other stakeholders. Developing and administering assessments is also required.

An active Tennessee teaching license is required for the applicable grade and subject level, or the ability to obtain a Tennessee teaching license.

Job Overview

The responsibilities of a high school educator are: creating lesson plans, differentiating instruction, instructing students according to the state standards, collaborating with other teachers, staff, and administration to address classroom issues and curriculum, organizing and managing the learning environment, monitoring student progress, and providing interventions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide an instructional program that is differentiated.
  • Commit to high student achievement and support for all students.
  • Maintain knowledge of the subject matter being taught.
  • Exercise various teaching strategies to increase students’ critical‑thinking skills.
  • Create a secure classroom climate and respond to inquiries from a variety of sources.
  • Instruct students to improve their success in academics through a defined course of study.
  • Administer and develop subject‑specific assessments to assess student competency levels and/or develop individual learning plans.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings and professional development activities to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.
  • Monitor students in a variety of educational environments to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Prepare a variety of written materials to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
  • Support other classroom teachers to assist them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and monitor with student success as the goal.
  • Use available technology in lessons.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.

The job is performed in a standard office environment and in a generally clean and healthy environment, requiring approximately 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing.
