Ann Arbor Public Schools is seeking a dedicated 2nd Grade Elementary Teacher for Thurston Elementary. This full-time, on-site role requires delivering district-approved curriculum and providing individualized and small-group instruction to meet each student’s needs.

You will communicate regularly with families, assess student progress, and maintain records to prepare progress reports, while collaborating with staff to support a positive learning environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions in group settings.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
• Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
