Ann Arbor Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Teacher for 1/2 grade at Lakewood Elementary. This on-site, full-time role reports to the Building Principal and follows the AAESA Teachers Salary Schedule.

The ideal candidate will hold a Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate, have experience with early elementary students, and meet COVID vaccination requirements.

  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Full-time position requiring regular reliable on-site attendance.

SALARY: AAEA - Teachers Salary Schedule

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Building Principal

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Possess a valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate.
  • Possess work experience with early elementary children.
  • Proof of COVID vaccination required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach district approved curriculum.
  • Develop lessons and instructional material to provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt to the curriculum needs of each pupil.
  • Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, keep appropriate records and prepare progress report.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This is a full time position, requiring regular reliable and predictable attendance on site to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Write reports, businesscorrespondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions in group settings.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Other duties assigned.
