Elementary School Teacher

The Academy of St. James, a PreK3 - Grade 8 Catholic Elementary School located in Totowa, NJ, is seeking full-time Primary and Middle School Teachers for the 2025-26 school year. We are looking for outgoing, dynamic individuals eager to join a dedicated team of educators.

Essential Functions

1. Supports and upholds Gospel values and the philosophy of Catholic education.
2. Recognizes and supports the Catholic Mission of the school by aligning actions and instruction with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
3. Leads daily prayer, instructs Religion lessons, and participates in liturgies.
4. Develops lessons based on the Diocese of Paterson curriculum standards.
5. Creates a safe, engaging classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
6. Assesses student learning regularly, modifies teaching methods accordingly, and administers assessments like NWEA MAP tests.
7. Engages in ongoing professional development through seminars and workshops.
8. Maintains accurate records of student progress, grades, and attendance.
9. Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication with families.
10. Ensures student conduct aligns with school and Diocesan policies, establishing clear behavior standards.
11. Collaborates with colleagues to evaluate and support student learning.
12. Models high expectations and professional behaviors for students and staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
