Job summary

Swartz Creek Community School District is seeking caring, motivated individuals to join our team to support young learners as they begin their school journey. As a classroom assistant, you will help with preparation, organize activities, and contribute to a nurturing learning environment.

You will support teachers by assisting with small groups, monitoring safety, recording observations, and helping students develop social and independent skills throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with classroom preparation and organization.
• Support individual and small group learning activities.
• Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Provide one-on-one support to students who need extra help.
• Assist with setting up and cleaning up learning materials and classroom supplies.
• Monitor student safety and well-being throughout the school day.
• Record observations on student progress and report to the teacher.
• Encourage social skills and cooperation among students.
• Support students with self-care routines and independence skills.
• Assist in implementing lesson plans and educational activities.
• Communicate respectfully with students, teachers, and parents as needed.
• Participate in professional development and team meetings.
