Job summary

Jennings County Schools in North Vernon is seeking a Paraprofessional (temporary position) to support certified staff in meeting instructional goals. You will assist with reading, language arts, math, computer instruction and small-group interventions.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic to assist students.
• Ability to use Word, Excel and basic software.
• Dedication to confidentiality and supportive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and interventions.
• Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials.
• Assist with record-keeping documenting student learning and performance.
• Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and keep students on task.
• Supervise non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus duty, playground, corridors, study hall.
• Assist with parent contact as requested to foster parental involvement.
