Job summary

Kentwood Public Schools seeks an Academic Interventionist for Endeavor Elementary to reinforce reading, language arts, and math through targeted instruction. Responsibilities include collaboration with staff, record-keeping, behavior management, and participation in IEP-related activities to support inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 90 college credits from an accredited college or university is required.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• A valid Michigan teacher’s certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
• Assists professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
• Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
• Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and keep students on task.
• Assists students in non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus, playground, and other duties.
• Accompanies students on field trips for supervision.
• Constructs, copies and distributes educational materials as needed.
• Assists teacher with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Supports students with special needs to maximize inclusion and achievement.
