Job summary

Nimble in New Albany, IN is seeking an Elementary Specialist - Music to implement the district’s elementary music curriculum and supervise students across schools. You will maintain classroom displays, support planning, and ensure materials are ready for instruction.

Responsibilities include executing plans, coordinating up to three optional performances per year with compensation, and serving as a substitute when needed. Immediate start; reports to Special Area Teacher Leader/Principal.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and pass paraprofessional test or Praxis Para Pro Assessment; substitute permit.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn school technology.

Responsibilities

• T eaches and executes the NAFCS approved music curriculum.
• Maintains word wall, Composer of the Month, ICAN, and hallway bulletin boards.
• Implements and instructs provided plans in a timely manner.
• Coordinates up to 3 extra-curricular performances per year with compensation for planning time.
• Ensures sub folders and lesson plans are up to date.
• Fills in as substitute teacher when needed.
• Provides support in other areas of the school as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

TITLE:Elementary Specialist - Music

CLASSIFICATION:Instructional Support

HOURS/DAY:6.5 hours/up to 185 days

PAY GRADE 15:$20.43 - $21.53 (based on education and experience)

REPORTS TO:Special Area Teacher Leader/Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education and/or Experience:High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and pass the paraprofessional test; or pass the Praxis Para Pro Assessment.Must hold a substitute permit.
• Computer Skills:Basic computer skills, familiarity with email systems, ability to learn systems such as, but not limited to, smart boards, document cameras, projection systems, sound systems, and digital technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises students.
• Teaches and executes the NAFCS approved music curriculum.
• Maintains word wall, Composer of the Month, ICAN, and hallway bulletin boards by keeping them up to date.
• Implements and instructs provided plans in a timely manner to ensure cohesiveness in all elementary schools.
• Communicates with administration about the possibility of up to 3 extra-curricular performances per year that you would be compensated for an extra 15 hours of time to plan and implement.
• Ensures that sub folder including all necessary materials, including lesson plans, is up to date and easy to find.
• Fills in as a substitute teacher during the day as needed.
• Provides support in other areas of the school as needed such as office support, classroom support and other areas as determined by administration.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the administration and/or other designee.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.

Job Requirements

• High School/Trade School degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
