Job summary

Rochester Academy Charter School is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for second grade for the 2026-2027 school year. Immediate start with a small caseload and integrated co-teaching classroom. You will collaborate on curriculum planning and responsive lesson planning in an urban school setting.

Ideal candidates have NYS certification and a passion for restorative practices. School hours are 7:10 AM – 3:10 PM with strong mentoring and professional development supports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant content area.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• NY State Teacher Certification in grades 1-6 or K-12 SPED is highly preferred.
• Experience in an urban school setting is preferred but not required.
• Commitment to the belief that all students can succeed and interest in restorative justice.

Responsibilities

• Act as case manager, write IEPs and progress reports, and gather documents for CSE process.
• Regularly communicate with co-teacher and families to support student success.
• Deliver high-quality, data-informed, specialized instruction to students on your caseload.
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher to adapt or create curriculum for diverse needs.
• Foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment using restorative practices.
• Participate in school-wide initiatives and mentoring programs.
