Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of content areas to develop student performance.
• Design and plan instruction to develop communication, core concepts, independence, teamwork and problem-solving.
• Create a learning climate that supports student growth in these areas.
• Introduce, implement, and manage instruction aligned to student goals.
• Assess learning and communicate results to students and guardians.
• Use technology to support instruction and data use.
• Reflect on teaching situations and programs.
• Assist with personal hygiene needs of physically disabled students including lifting.
• Frequently lift 30-50 pounds.
• Frequently walk, stand, reach, bend, stoop, and crawl.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and agencies to support learning programs.
• Evaluate performance and implement professional development.
• Perform professional duties to improve student learning and well-being.
• Maintain professional relationships within the school and community.
• Participate in meetings and sponsor student activities.
• Engage in annual training on positive behavior supports.
• Remain at school during the school day unless excused for emergencies.
• Report unusual events to the principal.
• Supervise students during in-class and out-of-class activities.
• Administer assessments per district and school programs.
• Take precautions to ensure student and staff safety.
• Adhere to the Codes of Ethics for Kentucky educators.
• Provide health services as needed including medication administration.
• Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
• Act as a positive public relations agent for school and district.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Follow all board and school directives and policies.
• Maintain acceptable attendance and avoid unexcused absences.
